Gardening Tips

Hi, I'm Violet! I'm the most earth-conscious of all of the adoptees in Daisy's Cybergarden. I believe that we should all recycle to help make his world a better place!

Everything you've ever wanted to know about Daisy but were afraid to ask.

One way of doing that in the garden is to start a compost pile. Compost makes the best soil & is made from organic material that most people would throw away. Here's a step by step guide on how to make your own compost pile!

  1. Start out by making a wooden bin with landscape ties. Most compost bins are 4x4x5h.

  2. Start with a layer of plant material (leaves, twigs, and grass clippings) on the bottom

  3. A layer of  other organic material like fruit peelings may be added next. Do not use anything that may attract unwanted animals to the compost or make it smell bad.

  4. Alternate the layers between plant & organic material until the bin is full.

  5. Rotate the pile about twice a week with a rake or garden fork

  6. In about 3 weeks, your compost should be ready to use!
